Business Development Manager

 

The Epsten Group, Inc., is an internationally known environmental auditing, building consulting, and architectural firm, providing LEED certification reviews, LEED consulting, comprehensive architectural & engineering services, commissioning of systems and the building envelope, building envelope consulting, energy modeling, daylighting calculations, water use calculations, life-cycle assessments, greenhouse gas reporting, and corporate sustainability reporting.

SUMMARY

Responsible for identifying and pursuing new services, clients and projects for the Design & Consulting Division, with an emphasis on federal government contracts. Explore new markets by various means of lead generation to include: internet research, networking events, and research market trends. Reports to Director of Design & Consulting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s a plus)
  • SMPS (Society for Marketing Professional Services) preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience for an A&E firm
  • At least 2 years management experience of a team of at least 3 people
  • Understanding of common technical terminology and projects phases for architecture, consulting, engineering, and sustainability services
  • Experience in successfully marketing for and procuring federal government projects
  • Knowledge of local, national, global trends in Sustainable Design and Consulting preferred

SKILLS

  • Strong Presentation and proposal writing skills
  • Must be able to delegate tasks and follow up on progress
  • Generate leads on new business opportunities/clients
  • Easily communicate ideas among wide range of professionals; marketing, technical, owners, civic

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Forecast business plans for new markets
  • Supervise Marketing Manager and Proposal Writer
  • Oversee on-going and future marketing initiatives
  • Evaluate current workflow of department and make efficiency improvements
  • Create and maintain databases related to business development
  • Develop firm’s Outreach initiatives
  • Advise other department manager’s on staff development needs to meet new business models
  • Generate leads, initiate and follow-up with contacts, and manage firm’s efforts to contract awards
