Statements of Qualifications and Proposals are critical marketing tools for pursuing projects in the A/E/C industry. This session will go through the proposal process from searches and go/no-go decisions to interview presentations and debriefings. Tanya and Kim will review methods to track proposal, typical architectural and engineering terminology, as well as completion of federal forms. They will also discuss the importance of pursuit strategy, layout and design, and various ways to produce a proposal.

Kim Thompkins, CPSM is an Associate and Marketing Manager with Stevens & Wilkinson. Kim has over 15 years of marketing experience in the A/E/C industry.

Kim has been an active member of SMPS Atlanta since 1998 and a member of the Programs Committee since 2007. Kim has served on the Education Committee and was the CPSM Study Group Leader for 2006-2007 sessions.

Kim began her career as a Marketing Coordinator at Steinberg Architects in San Jose, California. She relocated to Atlanta and went to work for Gensler in 1998. In 2001, Kim joined Stevens & Wilkinson, an architectural, engineering, and interior design firm. As Marketing Manager, Kim successfully manages the firm’s proposal process and is responsible for other in-house marketing functions. She works closely with the firm’s principals in developing proposal submittals for K-12, Higher Education, State Government, GSA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers market segments.

Kim received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University. She received her CPSM designation in 2005.

Stevens & Wilkinson is celebrating 90 years in architecture, engineering and interior design. Headquartered in downtown Atlanta, Stevens & Wilkinson is a full-service design firm with an office in Columbia, South Carolina. The firm serves in a number of market segments including Education, Urban Housing/Mixed Use, Hotels, Healthcare, Military, Government, and Office/Workplace. The firm has over 100 employees.

Tanya Rolle Devereaux, CPSM, joined KHAFRA, an Engineering/Architecture firm headquartered in Atlanta with offices throughout the Southeastern USA and the District of Columbia, as Marketing Proposal Manager in March 2007.

Tanya brings more than 15 years' experience in business to business marketing, creative design, strategic planning and proposal management.

She was previously Marketing Manager at Turner Associates Architects and Planners. Before that, Tanya led a team of designers creating point of purchase materials for Church's Chicken and Coca-Cola. She has also been a small business owner in the graphics and administrative sector.

Tanya is also a dedicated member of SMPS Atlanta, having served on the Education Committee for 3 years, with a focus on CPSM and Boot Camp series planning. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing as well as a Master's degree in International Business. She earned her CPSM designation in 2007.
